Getting Married in Vegas in a Month? Here’s Everything You Need to Know from a Las Vegas Intimate Wedding and Elopement Photographer

Fremont Street elopement photographer captures couple joyfully running past the Lucky Motel neon sign at night, bride in a modern short wedding dress, vintage classic car parked behind them — Las Vegas intimate wedding photography

So it’s happening — you’re getting married in Las Vegas, and it’s coming up fast. Whether you’ve been planning this for months or decided to make it official on a whim, Vegas is one of the most exciting and surprisingly easy places in the world to tie the knot. The city is truly built for intimate weddings and elopements — couples who want something meaningful, personal, and memorable without the stress of a traditional wedding. This guide is here to walk you through everything you need to know before your big day, from the marriage license to finding the perfect photographer for your intimate wedding or elopement in Las Vegas.

Where do I get my Las Vega marriage license?

This is the most important step and it’s easier than you might think. Nevada has no waiting period and no blood test requirement, which is a big reason why Vegas is such a popular destination for couples.

Where to go: Clark County Marriage License Bureau, located at 201 E. Clark Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89101.

Hours: Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week — yes, even on holidays.

Cost: $102 (cash or card accepted).

What to bring: Valid government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or passport) for both parties. If either of you has been divorced, you’ll need to know the date your divorce was finalized.

Important: Your marriage license is valid for one year from the date of issue and is only valid in the state of Nevada.

Where can I have my intimate wedding and elopement ceremony in Las Vegas?

Vegas offers a wide range of ceremony options for intimate weddings and elopements — whatever your style or budget, there’s something here for you.

Chapel Ceremonies

Las Vegas has a variety of chapels, each with their own set of rules and packages. Some chapels have built-in packages, while others offer à la carte options. One important thing to keep in mind: many chapels have their own in-house photographers, and if you want to bring an outside photographer, you may need to pay an additional fee.

From a photographer’s perspective — if you’re planning to take photos outside of the chapel and it’s important for your images to feel aesthetically cohesive, I do recommend paying that outside photographer fee. It’s worth it for consistency and to ensure your full day is captured in a style you love.

Here are a few of my favorite chapels from a photographer’s perspective:

  • Sure Thing Chapel & Sure Thing Too – Aesthetically pleasing, with reasonable packages that make sense for the modern couple. Lots of fun photo spots and conveniently close to Fremont Street.

  • The Little White Wedding Chapel – Classic Vegas vibes. It recently went through new management, so some of their photography rules have become quite strict. If you want to have photos here, make sure you book extra time to account for that.

  • Wynn Las Vegas – Beautiful and romantic, with friendly and helpful staff. They offer everything from simple packages to truly extravagant experiences. You won’t be disappointed. And even if you do book with one of their in-house photographers, you’ll still come away with beautiful pictures.
  • Little Church of the West – I haven’t personally photographed here, but aesthetically it’s classic, old-fashioned western Vegas. It’s quaint, charming, and sits right next to the Welcome to Las Vegas sign — a great bonus for photos.

Elopements & Outdoor Ceremonies

If you want something more intimate and scenic, the Las Vegas area is surrounded by stunning natural landscapes that are perfect for elopements and intimate weddings. One important note: if you’re holding your ceremony inside a state or national park, you will need to obtain a wedding ceremony permit and then a photography permit (which typically your photographer will obtain) as well. This is enforced and not something to skip. Plan ahead and factor in permit lead times when booking your date.

  • Red Rock Canyon – A fantastic location if you’re looking for dramatic desert rocks and wide-open scenery. It’s about 40 minutes from the Strip and 30 minutes from Downtown. Sunset light here is absolutely stunning, but keep in mind the sun sets behind the mountain — so for those beautiful sunrays, you’ll want to book your session about two hours before sunset.

  • Valley of Fire State Park – Otherworldly red sandstone formations and truly one-of-a-kind scenery. Plan for at least 1.5 hours of travel from the Strip. Note that photography locations within the park are limited to designated areas and permits are strictly enforced.

  • Spring Mountain Ranch State Park – Not a widely known option, but it’s a beautiful one. There’s a charming farmhouse and an outdoor stage that photograph wonderfully. Permits are required and strictly enforced here as well.
  • The Neon Museum (Neon Boneyard) – Iconic Vegas in every sense of the word. You can book the Neon Boneyard for an intimate session or do a full venue buyout for a larger celebration. For elopements, booking 30 minutes to an hour for bridal portraits here is a great use of the space — guests absolutely love it.

  • Dry Lake Bed – Classic desert vibes and a popular choice for couples who want to skip the permit process entirely. There are two popular options: Jean Dry Lake Bed and Boulder City Dry Lake Bed. Personally, I prefer Jean Dry Lake Bed — it’s a little closer to the Strip and it’s also near Seven Magic Mountains, which makes for a fun add-on.

  • Peerspace – If you’re looking for something truly unique and off the beaten path, I’d highly recommend browsing Peerspace. There are a lot of great spaces available away from the Strip and Downtown that you simply won’t find anywhere else. One standout is That 70’s House, a space curated by True Colors Creative — it’s funky, colorful, and makes for incredibly fun and memorable photos.

Where can I find an officiant?

If you’re not using a chapel (which typically provides its own officiant), you’ll need to arrange one separately. Nevada allows ordained ministers, judges, and other licensed officiants to perform ceremonies. If you’re on a tight timeline, Vegas vendors are very used to short-notice bookings — don’t be shy about reaching out.

A couple of officiants I’d personally recommend:

Should I get a day of coordinator for my intimate wedding?

If you’re hosting an intimate wedding with guests — typically under 25 people — having a coordinator can make a world of difference. Even for smaller celebrations, there are a lot of moving pieces to manage, and having someone in your corner to handle the logistics means you actually get to enjoy your day.

And if you have a lot of plans in mind — specific venues, florals, a particular vision — a full wedding planner or day of coordinator is a fantastic option. They’ll take everything off your plate and make sure your vision comes to life exactly the way you imagined it.

Here are some of my favorite coordinators and planners that I love working with:

Where can I get flowers? How about hair and make up? What should I wear based on the Vegas weather?

Flowers: Many chapels include a basic bouquet in their packages, but if you want something custom and curated, here are a few local florists worth reaching out to:

Hair & Makeup: Looking and feeling your best on your wedding day starts here. Whether you want glam, natural, or something with a retro edge, here are some of my favorite hair and makeup artists in Las Vegas:

  • Atomic Style Lounge – A fantastic salon in the Arts District with a retro flair. Also conveniently close to The Little White Wedding Chapel, making it a great stop before your ceremony.
  • Heads Will Roll Salon – Retro-inspired and travel-friendly — they’ll come to your hotel so you can get ready in comfort without the stress of getting across town.
  • By Makall – Modern hair and makeup with a clean, polished aesthetic. Also mobile and happy to come to your hotel.

Attire: April is a beautiful time to be in Vegas — temperatures typically range from the mid-60s to low 80s °F. Light fabrics are ideal. If you need last-minute formalwear, BHLDN (online, ships fast) or consignment bridal shops in the area can be great resources. For something casual, there’s no pressure to go traditional — many couples elope in outfits that simply feel like them.

Step 6: Getting Around — Make It Part of the Experience

Getting around Las Vegas on your wedding day doesn’t have to be an afterthought — it can actually be one of the most fun parts of the day. Renting a car is a practical choice if you’re heading to outdoor locations like Red Rock Canyon or the Dry Lake Beds, but it’s also a great opportunity to add some personality to your celebration.

One option I love recommending is XO Classic Cars. Renting a vintage or classic car is a genuinely fun way to get around the city, and it doubles as a built-in photo opportunity. Pulling up to your ceremony or cruising down the Strip in a beautifully restored classic is the kind of detail that makes your wedding day feel extra special — and it photographs beautifully.

Step 7: Plan Your Stay & Celebrate

Vegas has no shortage of incredible places to celebrate. Skip the tourist traps and eat like a local — here are some genuinely great restaurant recommendations for your wedding night:

  • Barry’s – A beloved local steakhouse with serious vibes.
  • Golden Steer – Old-school Vegas glamour and legendary steaks. A classic for a reason.
  • Triple George – A Downtown staple with great food and a lively atmosphere.
  • Esther’s Kitchen – One of the best Italian spots in the city, beloved by locals.
  • Bavette’s – Dark, moody, and romantic — perfect for a wedding night dinner.
  • Sparrow & Wolf – Creative, globally-inspired cuisine in a cozy setting.
  • Chinatown – Las Vegas has a thriving Chinatown with an incredible variety of Asian cuisines. Wander in and pick something that looks good — you won’t be disappointed.

And of course, if you want to go all out, upgrade to a suite for your wedding night — The Venetian, Bellagio, and Aria all offer stunning options. A sunset helicopter ride over the Strip or Grand Canyon also makes for an unforgettable start to the honeymoon.

Step 8: Book Your Intimate Wedding & Elopement Photographer

Your wedding day is one you’ll want to remember forever, and working with an experienced intimate wedding and elopement photographer makes all the difference. April and May is honestly one of the best months for outdoor photography in Vegas — the light is soft and golden, the desert is alive with color, and the temperatures are perfect for being outside comfortably. Whether you’re in a chapel or eloping at Red Rock Canyon, having a photographer who knows the Las Vegas area means you’ll get images that truly capture the magic of this place.

A great elopement photographer will also handle the logistics — scouting locations, timing the light, navigating permit requirements — so you can focus on each other and be fully present in the moment.
